Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility

Rusty Matsumoto, branch head for non-nuclear inside machinists at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF), guides Darrick Poe, executive director of U.S. Pacific Fleet's Total Force Management, and U.S. Navy Capt. Tommy Wright, deputy director, through the inside machine shop in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Aug. 10, 2026.

Leaders from U.S. Pacific Fleet's (PACFLT) Total Fleet Force Manpower and Personnel Directorate (N1) toured the shipyard to better understand its operations and how their support in hiring and developing the workforce is vital to sustaining combat-ready naval forces.

PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight” by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Camey Streff)
