Dayton Remigio, a Code 970 Maintenance Worker Leader, performs a high-pressure basin washdown of Dry Dock 2 immediately following dry dock dewatering at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). The basin washdown is a critical maintenance step performed immediately after a vessel is undocked and the water is pumped out, clearing away marine growth, silt, and debris from the dock floor. This ensures a clean and safe working environment for the shipyard's shipwright, rigging, and engineering teams as they work quickly under tight schedules to build the next docking pattern. PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships.
