Workers perform a basin washdown of Dry Dock 2 immediately following dry dock dewatering at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). The basin washdown is a critical maintenance step performed immediately after a vessel is undocked and the water is pumped out, clearing away marine growth, silt, and debris from the dock floor. This ensures a clean and safe working environment for the shipyard's shipwright, rigging, and engineering teams as they work quickly under tight schedules to build the next docking pattern.
