    KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Aug. 6, 2026) Liliane Moorhead, of Guys Mills, Pa., an intern assigned to Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, presented research titled, “95 GHz Radiofrequency Energy Elicits Unique Functional and Molecular Changes in Immune and Vascular Endothelial Cells” in the Directed Energy Medical Research for Future Fight Breakout Session held during the 2026 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. Presenters shared their latest research findings and challenges on topics including combat casualty care, military operational medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine, medical simulation and information sciences, military infectious diseases, and the radiation health effects, Aug. 3-6. Moorhead, a 2026 graduate of Lehigh University, is participating in the Office of Naval Research’s Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP). NREIP gives academically talented college students, graduating seniors, and graduate students pursuing STEM careers the opportunity to learn about Naval research and technology while receiving first-class mentoring by top scientists and engineers. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
