    KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Aug. 5, 2026) Heuy-Ching Hetty Wang (right), director, Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine, Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, co-moderated the Saving Servicemembers’ Sight Breakout Session held during the 2026 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, Aug. 3-6. Presentations during the breakout session ranged from impacts of protective eyewear and evacuation time to measurement of strain along optic pathway in model head in repeat low-level blast environments. The MHSRS brings together military, government, academia, and industry experts for critical conversations and intensive idea sharing. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
