Members of the Minnesota National Guard’s 55th Civil Support Team board the decommissioned commercial vessel Edward L. Ryerson during a port security exercise in Duluth, Minnesota, June 10, 2026. The team deployed to the ship to investigate a simulated radiological threat, testing their specialized capability to conduct hazardous material detection and site characterization in a complex maritime environment. The 55th CST conducted the training alongside the U.S. Coast Guard and other interagency partners to validate their collective maritime response protocols.
