U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Ervin Baker, 2nd Battalion, 218th Regional Training Institute, South Carolina National Guard performs Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear tasks during the Region III Best Warrior Competition at the North Carolina National Guard Camp Butner Training Center in Stem, North Carolina, April 28, 2026. The BWC is a multi-day event organized in state, regional, and national phases to promote excellence and resiliency within the National Guard. Throughout the competition, participants are challenged mentally and physically in critical areas encompassing individual combat skills and doctrinal knowledge.
