JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Mechanical Group Shop Superintendent Jason Itamoto speaks with National Defense University guests during a tour of Shop 31, the inside machine shop at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, April 10, 2026. The visit provided joint warfighters and allied leaders attending NDU firsthand insight into the industrial capabilities required to sustain globally integrated naval operations.
The Inside Machine Shop (Shop 31) houses the non-nuclear machinists that manufacture and refurbish parts and components using an array of machinery for vessels.
