JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Machinist Ashley Roman machines thread savers using a lathe at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, April 10, 2026. Joint warfighters and allied leaders attending National Defense University visited the shipyard to gain firsthand insight into the industrial capabilities required to sustain globally integrated naval operations.
The Inside Machine Shop (Shop 31) houses the non-nuclear machinists that manufacture and refurbish parts and components using an array of machinery for vessels.
