U.S. Navy Adm. Christopher Grady, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presents a coin to U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Albert E. Duncan, an Alaska native and fire team leader with 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, during Exercise ARCTIC EDGE 2025 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 18, 2025. Duncan was recognized for his initiative and leadership, stepping into multiple roles that enhanced morale, cohesion, and mission success, including leading integrated squad operations with U.S. Marines and Coast Guard personnel, conducting security patrols and instruction, and serving as opposing force during an Entry Control Point (ECP) training event. His efforts reinforced joint training realism and strengthened interagency partnerships across the exercise. AE25 is a NORAD and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities and enhance joint and allied force interoperability in the Arctic.
