U.S. Navy Adm. Christopher Grady, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaks with U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Robert J. Pugcazewski, a Headquarters Company gunnery sergeant with 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, during Exercise ARCTIC EDGE 2025 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 18, 2025. Pugcazewski served as the assistant camp commandant at Camp Madbull, where he implemented safety briefs, supervised life support operations, and ensured accountability for more than 450 Marines and Soldiers. His leadership and coordination directly enhanced the camp’s security posture and prevented multiple bear encounters during the exercise. AE25 is a NORAD and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities and enhance joint and allied force interoperability in the Arctic.
