Campers participate in an engineering reaction course exercise during the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) STEM/Engineering & Construction Camp at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville. The scenario simulates a high-risk extraction under enemy fire and a burning building escape, requiring teams to use support beams, boards, planks and concrete blocks to navigate without touching the ground. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Southeast provided support to the weeklong camp that brings together high school students from across the country to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math through real-world challenges, mentorship and team-based projects.
