Marine Cpl. Phillip E. Brown, assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 3's Burma humanitarian assistance/disaster relief team, said he was proud his first deployment allowed him to participate in a critical real world operation. "This is very important because it lets people know that the U.S. Marine Corps is willing to help people out everywhere." Brown said. "I'm obviously not happy about the Cyclone hitting, but I'm glad I have the opportunity to help the people who were affected by it. I wish I was actually able to be there to help, but I'm glad to be helping however I can." Brown and other Marines attached to CLR-3, already deployed to Thailand for Exercise Cobra Gold 2008, shifted their efforts to relief operations after Cyclone Nargis struck Burma, May 2, killing and displacing thousands of people. Brown, 21, is a Luxora, Ark. native, who graduated from Rivercrest High School in 2005.
