Local 4-H students identify tree species near Broken Bow Lake, Oklahoma, April 9, 2025. Broken Bow Lake Ranger Adam Miller was one of the Tulsa District USACE employees who helped facilitate the event in partnership with local 4-H organizations, the Oklahoma State Parks system, Oklahoma Forestry Services, the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, Eastern Oklahoma State College, Oklahoma Forestry Association and the Ouachita Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Council.
Students were evaluated on insect identification, tree identification, compass and pacing, and forest evaluation. They also developed a simple management plan based on criteria provided for the area. (Official U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Stacey Reese/released)
