U.S. Army Master Sgt. Daryl Cossey, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the U.S. Army Regional Mortuary for Europe and Africa, located on Landstuhl Kaserne, Germany, briefs U.S. Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Karen Monday-Gresham, the deputy commanding general of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command and commanding general of the 7th Mission Support Command, on the processes and challenges the mortuary affairs team faces during a site visit Friday, Jul. 21, 2024.
As the DCG, part of Monday-Gresham's role is to advocate for units, increasing mission capability. The Landstuhl based facility supports the largest area of responsibility of any Army Mortuary, supporting three combatant commands: U.S. Army European Command, U.S. Army Africa Command, and U.S. Army Central Command, making theirs the largest case load outside of Dover Air Force Base, the primary mortuary for the Department of Defense and serves as the template for all other Armed Forces Mortuaries.
