U.S. Army Spc. Shakira Green, a human resources specialist, and Spc. Apollonia Desuze, a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear specialist, both assigned to the National Guard 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and currently deployed to Powidz, Poland, participate in a St. Patrick’s Day community event at a local school in Powidz on March 19, 2024. Throughout the visit, the Soldiers exchanged stories of why they joined the military and what life in the military is like. The students practiced English language skills while hosting the U.S. Soldiers. The U.S. Army Soldiers are deployed as part of a rotation of forces to Poland to support multinational training and operations, enhance interoperability and contingency response capabilities with allies and partners, and deter adversaries in the European theater.
