NMOTC CO visits ASTC Cherry Point

A Marine aircrewman discusses his performance results in the high-altitude trainer with an instructor at Aviation Survival Training Center (ASTC) Cherry Point, Feb. 14. The eight ATSCs spread across the United States are operated by the Naval Survival Training Institute (NSTI) and are used to train the pilots of the Navy and Marine Corps as well as the aircrews of both that support them in aviation survival training. NSTI, a detachment of NMOTC, provides the students and service members who complete training and courses an understanding of stressors placed on the body, the rigors of egress and techniques for survival in situations of hostile and austere environments. Navy Medicine Operational Training Command (NMOTC) is comprised of six nationwide detachments like NSTI that offer specialized medical training in the fields of aviation, aviation survival, surface and undersea warfare, expeditionary and special operations medicine.
