220217-N-SI601-1130 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Feb. 17, 2022) The Honorable Rahm Emanuel, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, addresses the crew of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) over the ship’s 1MC announcement system. During his visit, Emanuel also toured Ronald Reagan and served as the keynote speaker in a naturalization ceremony where 17 candidates from 11 different countries became American citizens. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
