SPANISH FORT, Ala. (Jan. 30, 2020) Ben Raines, a reporter and diver credited with finding the lost schooner Clotilda, the last known ship to bring African slaves to the U.S., points out landmarks to Sailors and civilians during a tour of the Mobile River. The recent discovery of the ship has brought with it the hope of revival to Africatown, a small community in Mobile, Ala., founded by African captives brought to the U.S. on the Clotilda. Recently, Navy Recruiting Command has conducted community service and volunteer projects to help further revitalize the town.
