U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dominic Cartwright, Lance Cpl. Gabriel Rodriguez, and Cpl. Noah Alexander Burris, combat engineers with Ground Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, prepare to conduct live-fire squad tactics training at the Battle Inoculation Range, Kangaroo Flats Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia, July 30, 2020. Rodriguez is a native of Chicago.
“We’re the jack of all trades, master of none. We’re thirsty for knowledge. It’s our job to learn it all. Everything from construction, such as building FOBs (Forward Operating Bases), to demolition, breaching, route clearing, counter IEDs, and some. The list is exhaustive. They don’t like to admit it, but anything a grunt can do, we can do. And more.”
During the week, MRF-D’s GCE and LCE came together to demonstrate their ability to operate in austere environments and hone their combined combat readiness. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Harrison Rakhshani)
