Australian Defence Force Sgt. Troy Roberts, a medic with 8th Close Health Company, 1st Class Health Battalion, sits in front of a U.S. Marine Corps Humvee at Kangaroo Flats Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia, July 27, 2020. Roberts, a native of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, is providing casualty evacuation support to Marine Rotational Force – Darwin during their week of training at KFTA.
“I grew up right on the beach, just north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast. You always knew when the surf conditions were good: all the schools were cleared out. I wouldn’t recommend swimming up north though. The water near Darwin’s got crocs, jellyfish, sharks. Bad idea.”
During the week, MRF-D’s elements came together to demonstrate their ability to operate in austere environments and hone their combined combat readiness. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Harrison Rakhshani)
