CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti – U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Richard Greenfield, keeps his grandmother close while forward-deployed at Camp Lemonnier’s Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF), May 29, 2020. Greenfield's grandmother was a cryptologist in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service). The WAVES was a division of the U.S. Navy created during World War II to free up male personnel for sea duty. Camp Lemonnier is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia.
