Three military personnel in olive green flight suits are seated in red theater-style chairs, each wearing blue neck gaiter face coverings pulled up over their mouths and noses. They appear to be in a briefing room at what is likely a U.S. Air Force base in Japan, indicated by the mural behind them depicting C-130 aircraft flying over Mount Fuji with cherry blossom trees. All three wear U.S. flag patches and unit insignia patches on their uniforms.

Aircrews conduct a physically distant pre-flight briefing before stepping out to their aircraft as part of the 374th Airlift Wing’s Samurai Surge training exercise. While COVID-19 has forced teams maintain aircraft and mission plan in a physically distant manner, Yokota’s Samurai Surge serves as proof the pandemic has not altered the 374th Airlift Wing’s mission capability, adaptability and readiness to respond to the needs of the Indo-Pacific region.
