Marine veteran Nicholas Green from Media, Pa., will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. Green will compete in sitting volleyball, track and field and shooting. Green joined the Marine Corps in 2008 as a graphic illustrator. He was shot while in Philadelphia in 2010 during an attempted robbery, which resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee. Green is a two-time team member and says that his participation in the games helped him to get into better shape and back into the routine of exercising. More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition.
