All Independence sailors, including the commanding officer, executive officer and command master chief, participate in sweepers in an effort to maintain cleanliness throughout the ship. Independence's Gold Crew and embarked Mine Countermeasure Squadron (MCM), Detachment 1, are underway for the ship's maiden voyage to San Diego after successfully completing testing on the MCM mission package.
