JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 10, 2019) - Brittany Gordon learns echocardiograms by working on a staff member at Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Internal Medicine Clinic, under the guidance of Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Logan Rees. Gordon is one of 13 high school students from Darnell-Cookman School of the Medical Arts participating in the hospital’s Science, Service, Medicine and Mentoring summer internship. The goal of S2M2 is to nurture students’ commitment to science and medicine in a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment. The S2M2 partnership with Darnell-Cookman complements the school’s focus on equipping high-performing students with the skills and experiences to pursue advanced medical degrees.
