JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 11, 2019) - Thirteen high school students from Darnell-Cookman School of the Medical Arts listen closely to Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Timothy Helton as he demonstrates how to apply a pressure dressing. The students are participating in a Hospital Corpsman Skills Basic class, as part of the hospital’s Science, Service, Medicine and Mentoring summer internship. The goal of S2M2 is to nurture students’ commitment to science and medicine in a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment. The S2M2 partnership with Darnell-Cookman complements the school’s focus on equipping high-performing students with the skills and experiences to pursue advanced medical degrees.
