A crater and unexploded ordnance are all that remain at the site of the explosion of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device June 26. Four Iraqi nationals were killed, including a woman and child, a Facilities Protective Services employed and the suicide bomber driving the vehicle when a Chevrolet Caprice exploded 50 meters from the main gate of Mosul Airfield, a multinational forces base in Mosul, Iraq. The vehicle was loaded with 122mm rockets and a 60mm mortar that did not detonate in the explosion. The scene was secured and explosive ordnance teams were sent in to dispose of the munitions. This was the first major terrorist attack in Mosul since June 24 when four car bombs exploded, killing more than 60 and wounding more than 200. (Photo by Spc. Blair Larson)
