A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated approximately 50 meters from the main gate of Mosul Airfield, a multinational forces base in Mosul, Iraq, Monday. The explosion killed four Iraqi nationals, including the driver of the vehicle and a facilities protective services employee. The vehicle, a Chevrolet Caprice, was loaded with 122mm rockets and a 60mm mortar that did not detonate in the explosion. The scene was secured and explosive ordnance teams were sent in to dispose of the munitions. This is the first major terrorist attack in Mosul since June 24 when four car bombs exploded, killing more than 60 and wounding more than 200. (Photo by Spc. Blair Larson)
