HN Amy Bustamante is a general duty corpsman assigned to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). She is responsible for the direct care of patients with varying acuity levels on a fast-paced nine bed unit. She handles the documentation and safe completion of sedated procedures and the intake processes for new patients.
“I like the opportunity to see and learn new things every day, despite being here for eight months,” Bustamante said. “I enjoy learning more efficient ways to complete my job.”
Bustamante has taken charge as a leader and has become a subject matter expert on the unit because of her superb dedication and infectious level of motivation in the PICU. She recently trained two new corpsmen, both have completed their orientations ahead of schedule and received exceptional remarks from the nursing and medical staff.
