Dylan Fernandez fires a 7.62 millimeter blank ammunition round with a MAG-58 during Exercise Joint Assault Signals Company Black, Waiouru Training Area, New Zealand, Oct. 6, 2018. Fernandez, a native of Jacksonville, Illinois, is a radio operator with 1st Brigade, 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, III MEF. During the training event, opposing forces consisting of New Zealand Army soldiers and 5th ANGLICO Marines wielded the mitrailleuse d'appui general, or "general support machine gun", which is capable of firing 650 to 1,000 rounds per minute.
