Gunnery Sgt. Scott M. Dahn shakes hands with Col. Ronald C. Braney, commanding officer of 3rd Marine Logistics Group, after receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal June 12, 2018 at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, for rescuing a drowning woman’s life. The woman, Ching-Yi Sze, was panicking underwater, had removed her air regulator and was beginning to take in water when Dahn came to her aid. He provided her with oxygen while swimming her to shore, where he cared for her until paramedics arrived. Dahn, the training chief for 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force, is a native of Herron, Michigan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Armando Elizalde)
