Gunnery Sgt. Scott M. Dahn receives the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal from Lt. Col. Kenric D. Stevenson, commanding officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, June 12, 2018, at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, for rescuing a drowning woman’s life. The woman, Ching-Yi Sze, was panicking underwater, had removed her air regulator and was beginning to take in water when Dahn came to her aid. He provided her with oxygen while swimming her to shore, where he cared for her until paramedics arrived. Dahn, the training chief for 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force, is a native of Herron, Michigan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Armando Elizalde)
