Gunnery Sgt. Scott M. Dahn and his family speak with Col. Ronald C. Braney and Sgt. Maj. James N. Calbough before receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, June 12, 2018, at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, for rescuing a drowning woman’s life. Dahn came to the aid of Ching-Yi Sze, a Hong Kong native, while scuba diving at Maeda Point, Okinawa, Japan, May 20, 2018. Ching-Yi was panicking under water, had removed her air regulator and was beginning to take in water when Dahn came to her aid. He provided her with oxygen while swimming her to shore, where he cared for her until paramedics arrived. Braney is the commanding general of 3rd Marine Logistics Group and Calbough is the 3rd MLG sergeant major. Dahn, the training chief for 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd MLG, III Marine Expeditionary Force, is a native of Herron, Michigan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Armando Elizalde)
