Gunnery Sgt. Scott M. Dahn, the training chief for 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and his wife, April B. Dahn, receive the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal June 12, 2018 at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. The couple was awarded by Col. Ronald C. Braney, the commanding officer of 3rd MLG, for their heroic actions at Maeda Point, Okinawa, Japan, May 20, 2018. A tourist from Hong Kong, Ching-Yi Sze, was panicking underwater, had removed her air regulator and was beginning to take in water when Dahn came to her aid. He provided her with oxygen while swimming her to shore, where he cared for her while his wife called for paramedics. Dahn is a native of Herron, Michigan and his wife, April B.
