SAN ANTONIO – (June 6, 2018) Navy Counselor 1st Class Milton Duarte (rt) of Bronx, N.Y., a recruiter assigned to Navy Recruiting Station De Zavala, Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio, and Diego Rodriguez, a future Sailor from Del Rio, Texas, volunteers at the San Antonio Food Bank during a Delay Entry Program meeting. Duarte, a 2003 graduate of South Bronx High School, joined America’s Navy in 2005. Rodriguez, a 2014 graduate of Del Rio High School, will serve as an electrician’s mate in America’s Navy. “Conducting community service is important,” said Rodriguez. “I joined the Navy to serve my country and receive a higher education.” During the event, recruiters, along with more than 60 future Sailors and other volunteers, filled 575 bags of produce and sorted 19,447 pounds of food which will provide 15,558 meals for needy families.
