U.S. Marines with Alpha Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division navigate an AAV-P7/A1 assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) during a deployment for training (DFT) exercise at Fort Stewart, Ga., May 23, 2018. The vehicles are able to maneuver on land and in deep or shallow waters, allowing for expedited amphibious troop movement. The DFT helps maintain proficiency in landing the surface assault element during amphibious operations to inland objectives with conducting mechanized operations and related combat support in operations ashore.
