Lance Cpl. Jarquis Lane, an assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) crewmember with Alpha Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division communicates to the crew chief during a deployment for training (DFT) exercise at Fort Stewart, Ga., May 22, 2018. Radio communication allows updates to be shared quickly through the company and individual AAVs. The DFT helps maintain proficiency in landing the surface assault element during amphibious operations to inland objectives with conducting mechanized operations and related combat support in operations ashore.
