Ceiba, Puerto Rico, April 28, 2018--Maj. Philip Dobson, Navigator from 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, stands in front of one of the aircraft that flew previously through Hurricane María, as part of the 2018 Hurricane Hunter Expo sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the PR Emergency Management Agency (PREMA) held at the José Aponte De La Torre Airport. Emergency management staff rely on data collected during Hurricane Hunter aircraft missions and use for planning operations, response and hurricane preparedness, response and planning operations. The National Hurricane Center uses the information compiled in these missions to learn the strength, speed, wind and direction of storms and hurricanes to predict the potential path of the weather event.
