A young man wearing a brown knit beanie, gray hoodie, and work gloves is painting playground equipment yellow at an outdoor recreational area. He is perched atop a metal jungle gym or climbing structure, holding a small paint container while applying yellow paint to the metal bars. The scene appears to be a community volunteer or maintenance effort on a clear, sunny day.

William Bassler from Battle Creek, MI, a Sailor assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), paints a structure on the playground of John Tyler Elementary School. George Washington's First Class Petty Officer's Association (FCPOA) coordinated to paint the school's playground as part of a Community Relations (COMREL) event. George Washington is undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
