Staff Sgt. Brian Garr, Task Force 110 liaison officer for Andrew County from B Battery, 1/129th Field Artillery, Missouri Army National Guard uses a Defense Advanced GPS Receiver to help locate a position in a cornfield where a sand boil was reported to be. Garr found two Sand Boils at the location. Sand boils occur when water under pressure wells up through a bed of sand. The water looks like it is "boiling" up from the bed of sand, hence the name. Sand boils can be a sign that a levee is weakening, depending where they are located in relation to the levee and other factors.
