1701013-N-RU971-519 SASEBO, Japan (Oct. 13, 2017) Sailors, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), play volleyball during a command-sponsored sports day held at Nimitz Park, U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo, as part of a celebration of the U.S. Navy’s 242nd birthday. Sailors competed in a variety of team events, including soccer, flag football, softball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, volleyball, tug-of-war and a relay race. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
