1701013-N-RU971-048 SASEBO, Japan (Oct. 13, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Dominic Mando, from North Brunswick, N.J., assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), participates in command physical training at Nimitz Park, U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo, as part of a celebration of the U.S. Navy’s 242nd birthday. To celebrate the Navy and build command unity, Sailors competed in a variety of team events, including soccer, flag football, softball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, volleyball, tug-of-war and a relay race. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
