Ryan Carr, a native of Oceanside, California, assigned to the combat cargo department aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), observes flight operations with a UH-60 and a CH-47D Chinook, both assigned to Army Bravo Company, 2nd Batalion, 149th General Support Aviation Batalion (GSAB). Pearl Harbor is part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
