JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Aug. 10, 2017) – Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Sarah Brown, a native of Cave City, Arkansas, monitors patients in Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Intensive Care Unit. Brown says she arrived at NH Jacksonville as a Hospitalman Recruit, with little medical background and no leadership experience. But after working in ICU for 17 months, she has since lead the unit in three separate 16-week process improvement projects that led to patient-focused clinical changes. “The best part of my job is being able to preserve a patient's life while they are in the greatest state of vulnerability; it’s one of the most humbling experiences a person can have. It’s an amazing privilege to work in a unit with such sophisticated equipment and motivated people that push you to be your best every day.” (U.S. Navy photo by Jacob Sippel, Naval Hospital Jacksonville/Released).
