Capt. Darin Sweet gets a first look at the ice before the NHL All-Star game began Jan. 30. Sweet was invited by the NHL to pre-game festivities, a meet-and-greet with the players and a floor level seat to the game. He was recognized by the NHL to honor his heroism during the actions he took to protect his comrades during a firefight in Afghanistan. Sweet is a member of the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C.
