170308-N-KC128-431 PEARL HARBOR (March 8, 2017) Faces of the Deep: "When I went to MEPS I wanted to be a hospital corpsman so that I could save lives, but after talking with the recruiter I was convinced that the submarine force was for me. I liked the idea of being first in the line of defense for the nation and I liked the history of the submarine force during WWII when our surface fleet was badly damaged. Submarines are so small that we have to be efficient with every inch of the ship. Sometimes when we are in line for chow the line extends all the way into the berthing area. The lights are usually off but there is one spot where a few rays of light from another room are able to sneak in. A lot of junior Sailors use that spot to study or just hang out," said Sonar Technician 3rd Class (SS) Eric Anthony Commodore a Sailor assigned to the Virginia-class Submarine USS Texas (SSN 775).
