    U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATION, USS Somerset (Feb. 11, 2017) U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Jonathan Brusherd (right), a special amphibious reconnaissance corpsman (SARC), Sgt. Jeffery Burgstaller (center), and Cpl. A SARC can perform paramedical skills, basic life support, minor surgical procedures, and emergency medical health care procedures as required. The 11th MEU is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet’s mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region while underway during their West-Pac 16-2 deployment.
