Sergeant Kyle J. Fishe, drill instructor, Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, quizzes a recruit on his knowledge during a series commander inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 28. Drill instructors test recruits to see how much knowledge they’ve retained thus far in recruit training. Recruits take part in a series of classes to learn about such things as the history of the Marine Corps and uniform standards. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Fox Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 29.
