150930-N-VR008-021 SAN DIEGO (Sept. 30, 2015) – Fireman Rolando Salazgoddard removes floor grating to inspect and clean a shaft alley aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). America is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design. America’s PSA will pave the way for future America-class amphibious assault ships. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Kyle Goldberg/Released)
